Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere 180 Transaxle Problem, peerless transaxle, question pool

I have just re built the peerless transaxle on my JD 180. I replaced the key shifters and all seals, but everything else looked brand new.I checked and double checked when re assembling but am still having difficulty getting reverse and 1st gear, is there any manual adjustment on the linkage or should I be considering anything else.

Sorry for the Delay. Did you Replace the Shift Collar when you Replaced the Shift Keys? If No, then the Shift Collar can be Binding Due to Wear from the Old Shift Keys.
