Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD srx75 stuck in gear, forward gear, shift keys

Question
I have a John Deere srx75 that is about 16 years old, but in great condition.
Recently I wasn't able to get it out of forward gear into N. I took it into my
local JD service center and they replaced the drive belt. It worked fine for
about 8 hrs use, but now it's stuck in gear again. I inspected the deck and it
appears the belt(s) are still on properly according to the schematic in the
owners manual. It is so stuck in gear, that it will likely break the shifter
linkage if forced. My local service center has just gone out of business, so I
don't know where to have it looked at. Do you know what the cause of this
might be? Transmission?
Thanks,
-Blake

Answer
Hello Blake:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers SRX75 and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Select the "Power Train, Steering and Brakes" File. Now Select the "Transaxle" File to View a Breakdown of the Transaxle or the "Shift Lever Linkage" File to View a Breakdown of the Shift Lever Linkage. Check All the Shift Lever Linkage and Make Sure it is Not Binding. Once you are Sure the Shift Lever Linkage is Good and Not Binding, then the Usual Cause is the Transaxle Shift Keys (#19 in the Transaxle Breakdown) Being Worn and Catching. On a Mower of this Age the "Shift Lever Linkage" being Worn and Binding or the Transaxle "Shift Keys" are the Most Common Causes for this Problem. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
