Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): homelite chain saw -model 240, mix ratio, cycle oils

Question
I HAVE A HOMELITE 240 CHAIN SAW,UT#-10630B,AND I DON'T HAVE THE OWNERS MANUAL CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND A WEB PAGE TO DOWNLOAD A MANUAL FOR THIS SAW?OR CAN YOU TELL ME THE PROPER GAS/OIL MIX RATIO TO RUN THIS SAW. THANKS JASON

Answer
Hello Jason:

The New Saws Use a 40:1 Ratio Mix and the Older Saws Use a 32:1 Mix. I have Found Out over the Years that the Fuel Mix Ratio will Sometimes be Different from the OEMs Suggested Ratio. Most 2 Cycle Engines can Use a 40:1 or even a 50:1 Ratio Mix. The 2 Cycle Oils Today are Better than the Older Oils. I Use 40:1 Ratio in my Equipment when they are being Used for Regular Use. I have Several Chainsaws that are Supposed to Use a 32:1 Mix, but Over the Past 4 Years I have Not had Any Problems Using the 40:1 Mix if the are being Used for Trimming and Other Light Jobs. If they are being Used for Heavy Work, then I Use a 32:1 Ratio Mix in them and the Other Equipment that are going to be Worked Hard. The Harder you are Going to Work the Saw the More Oil you Want in the Gas. Remember that the Piston, Wrist Pin, Connecting Rod and Crankshaft get their Lubrication from the Oil in the Gas. If the Unit is being Use for Cutting Down and Cutting Up a Tree, then a Heavier Oil will Better Lubricate the Engine and it will Run Cooler Also. I Hope this Helps. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Till Next Time. Be Safe and Prosper. Thanks for Using All Experts.
