Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carburetor Leak, oil mixture, petcock

Question
QUESTION: I have a Craftsman 37.7cc Gas Power Blower back pack Mdl # 636.796912. The problem I am having is when I start the blower it starts fine but the gas continues to leak out the Carburetor through the air cleaner opening. This is when the petcock is open. The gas/ oil mixture just continually  runs. This happens wether the choke is open or closed. Please help

ANSWER: First be sure to vent fuel cap is open.  Then if there is spark arrestor screen on the muffler take it off and clean it.  If the problem still persists you will have to remove and rebuild the carburetor.  Purchase a carburetor kit from www.Searspartsdirect.com.  Be sure to put in new mounting gaskets.

QUESTION: I am unable to locate a rebuild carb kit from sears due to the do not make this carb anymore. The only information I have found about this carb is that Company called Robin had the same model blower FL40A. Can you tell me where I can get a rebuild kit for this carb? The carb part # EC04-0682A is the only info I have, do not know who made this carb. If I order parts from the parts list can you tell me the parts I need to replace? Do not want to buy unnecessary parts.

Answer
The Robin Brand name was bought by Bombardier the same people that own Sku Doo snowmobiles.  It would probably be easier to purchase the replacement carburetor from Sears.  The other alternative would be to replace the entire blower.  If you do not have any sacked for Robin there is no cross reference available.  Sorry I couldn't have been of more help
