Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cc to hp, overhead valve engines, brute snowblower

Question
QUESTION: Hi I had just purchased a brute snowblower briggs and Stratton, it is a 250cc, I was wondering what the horse power would be equivalent to cubic centimeter

ANSWER: Hello Terry:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. Many horizontal shaft, overhead valve engines have these numbers stamped into the OHV rocker cover. However, on certain overhead valve powered generators, the equipment manufacturer installs a decorative chrome rocker cover OVER the Briggs cover. If your engine has a decorative cover, it may be necessary to remove it in order to locate the Model, Type, and Code. You can Also Use this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/BS_modeltypecode.pdf for Assistance in Locating the Model, Type and Code Numbers of the Engine. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: Hi John I want you to know that i really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question, as in regards to 250cc engine, 11.50ft of torque, converted to horse power, the model # type and code is 1695566

Answer
Hello Again Terry:

Here is a Site Addy I was trying to Locate when you First Asked this Question. I Finally had the Wife Locate for me Today. I haven't Used this Site Addy in a Long Time. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question622.htm . I had Several Students that were taking Classes and Asked me the Same Question. I Located it Online and Other than Saving the Site Addy in the Roll Index, I have Never Used it Since. I Did Not See a Model or Type Number. The Only Number you Sent was the Code Number and this will Give me the DOM and Other Specifications that are Sometimes Required when Performing Maintenance on the Internal Components of the Engine and is Not Helpful in Determining the HP of this Engine. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
