Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Small engine carburetor, briggs and stratton, fire suppression

Question
I have a 19.5 Briggs and Stratton engine driving a riding lawn mower.  I can not keep the carburetor bowl full of gas.  There is gas in the fuel line and a new gas pump.  What else can I do to keep gas flow to the carburetor or what should I look for?

Answer
Look to see if there are two wires coming out of the bottom of the carburetor.  If so it has after fire suppression.  This may be faulty. Remove and test the switch with a continuity meter.  Or jump 12 V to it and it should open.  If not replace it with a new one or a replacement bowl bolt and jump the wire.

Other than that did you check for any kind of a fuel filter.  If it is on the engine it is turned the correct way, the way the fuel flows.  Next is to remove the carburetor and take it apart.  Clean every fuel and air passage with a wire from a wire tie.  Blow out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Reassemble with a new kit and use new mounting gaskets.

Hope this info helps.
