Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Govenor, ohv motor, govener

Question
How do you set the govener on a 16.5 ohv motor? This is for a craftmsan lawn tractor?

Answer
First locate the throttle plate on top of the carburetor.  Next followed a link and or spring back to the governor arm.  If you follow the governor arm down you will see where it clamps around the governor arm.  Use in the clamp and turned the shaft all the way to the right clock wise.  Hold it in place with screwdriver tightene clamp.  Do this with the throttle in a wide open position.  The only other way would be to change the governor spring or bend the tab that the spring hooks to putting more  tension on the spring.
