Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 18hp honda not charging, hp honda engine, wire loom

Question
we have a club car utility vehicle with a 18 hp honda engine in it. The engine is not charging tne battery. we ahve replaced the external voltage regulator and still have the problem.  the wiring harness has diodes hidden in the wire loom. i found one diode with its leads rotten off. repaired that diode.  The engine runs on battery voltage. No current floww from engine and only 11 volts while running connections and relays all good

Answer
All engine stators only produce AC voltage.  The diodes in line change it to DC voltage.  Test the diodes with the continuity meter voltage should only run in one direction.  I am confident if you find the diode problem you will find the charging problem.  If you have a voltage meter measured the voltage coming from the engine at wide-open throttle and compare it to the specifications Honda will provide.  I hope this information helps electrical problems can be hard to find.
