Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere Model L110, john deere model, filter components

Question
I have a John Deere Model L110 with 225 hrs. on it. The last two summers I have a problem with the engine sputtering when I'm mowing. It idles up and down. I replace the fuel filter every other time I use it. When the new filter is put on it runs like a clock. The very next time I use it the engine goes back to running erratically. Please help!!!

Answer
Hello Chris:

Have you Checked the Fuel Pump Pressure? This Engine has a Mechanical Fuel Pump and if the Fuel Pressure is Low Due to a Bad Fuel Pump, you will have the Problem you Described. The New Filter is Easier for the Pump to Push the Gas through than when it is Used. Just by the Filter Setting in Gas, the Internal Filter Components Swell Slightly and More Pressure is Required to Push the Fuel through the Filter. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (L110) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
