Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): changing engines, onan engines, wheel horse

Can I replace an engine cckb-ms/2440h Onan 19.5 hp with a ms/2379B 18 HP Onan , it might be the number 8 on the end instead of B ?

There aren't too many manufacturers that used Onan engines.  The one that first comes to mind is wheel horse they used a lot of them.  If this is a wheel horse contact Toro at www.Toro.com and send an e-mail to the service department to ask this question.  The things that are different usually are electrical.  You have to know the charging circuit and the ignition circuit.  They have schematics available online that will help you.  Good luck your project.
