Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan 25cc Leaf blower, fuel containers, gas cans

Question
Hi Fred,

I have the above that takes 40:1 Syn Oil.  I also have a 3 month old Styhl Garden Unit that uses 50:1 Styhl Oil (not sure if its syn, but has gas additive in it). Given that I will use the leaf blower 3 to 4 times in the fall (total of less than 1 hour per year), can I use the 50:1 mixture gas (I already have mixed) in both (or vice versa, can I mix a gallon of 40:1 syn and use in the Styhl)? I just don't want to start having a bunch a little gas cans with custom mixes all over the garage.

Thanx,
Dan

Answer
If the blower is under warranty or you ever expect to get warranty consideration you have to use gas oil mix the manufacturer requires.  That being said I would run 40:1 in a 50 L1 engine before 50: 1 in a 40:1 engine.  I know it is difficult trying to keep 2 separate fuel containers.  But my recommendation has to be to do that.  One of the best ways to get around this is to buy all one manufacturers product.  Sorry I couldn't be more help.
