Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere stx38 yellow deck spindle, spindle shaft, pulley

Question
am replacing a spindle on deck but having trouble separating pulley from spindle shaft....any recommendations appreciated..

Answer
Hello Don:

Usually, Heat and PB Rust Catalyst is Required to Remove the Pulley from the Spindle Shaft. Sometimes the Pulley has to be Drilled (Holes Drilled 180 Degrees from Esch Other beside the Center Collar) and a Puller Used to Separate the Spindle Shaft from the Pulley. If the Pulley is Damaged/Bent during Removal, then Replace the Pulley. Use Never Seize on the Spindle Shaft and Pulley when Assembling the Spindle. The Never Seize will Allow for Easy Removal of the Pulley if Removal is Required in the Future. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (STX38) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
