Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fuel pumps, kawasaki fb460v, vacuum pumps

Question
I didn't know my John Deere RX95 had a fuel pump. The 12.5 Kawasaki FB460V-AS09 has one but how does the engine provide the negative pressure to operate the diaphram? Is it from the space below the piston and on which cycle does it use; intake-compression-combustion or exhaust. thanks

Answer
Hello Chuck:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool and I can Only Answer Questions from the Question Pool when I am Not Answering Questions here or at the Other Site I Answer Questions at. Most of the Vacuum Operated Fuel Pumps Pull the Diaphragm of the Pump using the Vacuum Off the Engines Crankcase. When having Trouble with the Vacuum Pumps, I Usually Leave the Vacuum Pump in Place and Install a 4 to 7 Pound Electric Pulse Pump (Mr Gasket Part # 12S) to Supply Gas to the Carburetor. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
