Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): GT5000, craftsman gt5000, electric clutch

Question
I have a Craftsman GT5000, 917.276022 with a kohler engine.
I have tested my electric clutch and it has 3 ohms. I have checked my switch and it is delivering 12v.When the clutch gets mounted to the bottom of the engine is there supposed to be something protruding from the bottom of the engine to stop the clutch from spinning free? There is a piece of metal sticking down but it looks like there is something missing. Is there a clip on piece that belongs on here?
If so, where do I get this piece?

Answer
The clutch is two pieces held together in an inclosure.  The inside of the clutch is keyed to the crankshaft spins with the engine.  It is also an electro-magnet.  When the clutch is energized it pulls the bottom piece to the top piece.  The belt pulleys are attached to this side.  There may also be a pulley above the clutch assembly depending on your equipment. The whole thing is held  on by a bolt the screws up inside the crankshaft.  There is usually a washer or two also.

The resistance of the clutch should be 0.03 OHM's not 3.0.   There is usually an anti spin pin on the clutch or engine.  This stops the whole clutch from spinining if something happens so the clutch will not pull out the wiring in it.  There is almost always a belt guide on the clutch or engine to hold the belts on when the clutch is put into neutral.  They could be flat formed steel or wire-form.  This means that rods were formed to the desired shape. I hope this helps, good luck with your project.
