Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): bolens mower, bolens mower, battery connection

15.5 hp 38" cut 6 speed. model #13am762f765
mower will not turn over. battery, oil,air filter,and gas are fine. someone suggested the starter. I am lost. any advice I get is appreciated.

Is there a click when you turn the key?If not it could be the solenoid, PTO switch, brake switch, seat switch key switch.  The fuse could be blown too.  Check to be sure you have 12.6 volts in the battery.  You will need a fully charged battery to start the tractor.  If the solenoid clicks check to be sure 12 volts is going to the starter. If not work your way through the wire system with a VOM meter and see where 12 volts is not going to the next switch on the system.  12 volts SHOULD NOT go to ground until it goes through the starter.  If is does that is the problem.  Loose connections or bare wires will do the same thing.  If you want to test the starter apply 12 volts to the battery connection on the starter and it should spin.  You have to get it turning over to check for spark.
