Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Pulley rope wont recoil after I replaced it, tie a slip knot, bolens

Question
I replaced the pulley rope on a Bolens BL150 weed trimmer.  I thought I had put everything back together correctly, but when I pulled the rope, the motor turned over but did not recoil.  Thanks Jeremy

Answer
I think you need to pre wind the spring a few turns.  Take the starter off and remove the handle on the rope.  There is usually an indention on the pulley where you can put the rope while winding the spring.  Wind it at least 2 turns.  Hold the pulley and slip the rope through the hole.  Tie a slip knot in the rope. Put the handle back on.  The rewind should work in your hand when it is off the engine.
