Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): arien sierra 1440H lawn tractor/mower, ac volts, question pool

Question
Ben
I bought a brand new battery for this mower(Ariens Sierra 1440H lawn tractor), (which I verified works because I now use this battery in another tractor with no problems)However in the ariens it will not charge, I checked all the connections, they are tight and free from corrosion. What do you think could be the problem?
Thank you in advance
Sandy

Answer
Hello Sandy:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool and I can Only Answer Questions from the Question Pool when I am Not Answering Questions here or at the Other Site I Answer Questions at. Also, I am on Vacation and had a Few Minutes to Answer a Few Questions. From your Description it Sounds like the Stator (Charger) or the Voltage Regulator is Not Operating Properly. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. The Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Ariens) and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area.Select the Sectional File. Now you can View the Section of the Mower that Pertains to this Repair. I will be Back Online and Answering Questions again on 9/25/08. I will Require the Model Numbers to Better Assist you in this Matter. However, you can Use the Following Instruction Files to Research your Problem. For Testing the Electrical (Charging) System on Mowers you can Use this Site Addy; http://faqs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/faqs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3438&p... and Use the Link for AC Volts/DC Amps Meter Setting Chart. This is for Briggs Engines and Works Well for Kohler and Other Engine OEMs. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
