Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no spark on my john deere 265, john deere 265, kawasaki engine

I lost spark on my FC540V Kawasaki engine. I've changed the ignition coil and even tried disconnecting the wire lead to the coil, but I still have no spark. What else could it be?

It may be your electrical system.  When you turn the key is there a click? if there is you will have 12 V flowing to the starter.  The reason I am asking is that this is our battery ignition system the battery has to be in the system to have sparked.  If the solenoid does not click there is a problem in the safety system.  It could be the seats switch, the PTO switch,, the brake switch, loose connections or wires.  Otherwise check your key switch and be sure the system is grounded.  Get back to me if this does not help.
