Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Onan Generator w/ Facet 12V pump, electric fuel pump, wheel camper

Question
I hopefully figured my problem out today but I would like an expert's opinion.  I recently purchased an Onan 4.5 genset.  This older model requires an electric fuel pump.  The gen. is installed in my 30 5th wheel camper / toy hauler.  The distance from the fuel tank to the gen. is about 25 ft.  Originally I mounted the pump near the gen but had issues with lack fuel.  I moved the pump back near the tank and mounted it to the camper frame. It seems to work better now but the pump is making some weird noises once and a while.  Like a small marble rolling around inside the pump, then it gets quiet.  The whole time the gen. is running, the fuel level in the filter stay's low, like a 1/4".  The the filter is a Fram G-12.  Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much for your time.

Harvey.

Answer
Harvey you did a good job.

The noise could be a couple things.  It could be some rattling around in the filter.  It could be beatings in the pump or the pump.  You should try to find out which one it is and fix it.  It could also be the line 25' is a long way.  Maybe a few more clamps. Look for mounting hardware rubbing some place.

Best of Luck!
