Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro 8-25 70040, bare wire, solenoid

Question
I have been given a Toro 8-25 and when i first got it i replaced the battery and it started right up after about 5 min of riding around it died. I know the problem is electrical but have no idea how to tell what part of the electrical it could be. I have linked the battery directly to the started to see if that was bad but it does crank over then dies immediately. When i turn the key i can hear the light tick of power getting to the solenoid but never powers the starter. I'm sure it is just some dumb switch or harness that need to be replace but i have very limited small engine know how, and don't know where i could order the parts that i do need. Thank you for any help you might be able to give me

Answer
Troy,

Chances are there is a Bare wire grounding out which is killing the juice  to the starter itself alot of times what i will do is go from the starter Backwards and feel the wires as i go Unhook the terminals to reduce the chance of shock when you locate the bare wire inspect it carefully if it has been severed then simply slpice it.
