hi there im jake


i have a rototiller engine that im am going to use to make a mini bike out of.... and it has been sitting in my shead for about 3 years and i got it out the other day to start my project but my engine will not start with out starting fluid than it will run for about 5 secounds and shut off. the spark plug is bone dry, it ran good when i put it away.

Hi Jake,

The initial feeling I have is to check for a fuel problem.  Is the fuel too old.  (Did you put fresh start gas stabilizer in it?)

With a no-start condition and the spark plug dry, Check fuel supply and gas cap venting, Fuel system malfunction or obstruction(filter, screen), Carb problem (possible adjustment or service issue),  and finally is the compression normal?

This should certainly give you  some places to start.
