Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Reversed throttle?, briggs stratton, throttle linkage

Question
I just changed the gas and cleaned the carburetor of a mower I inherited. It had sat in storage for 5 or 6 years w/gas in it, but was only 3-6 months old then.  It starts up just fine, but now the throttle control seems reversed (turtle means fast?).  My mom said it was not like this when she put it up, so I'm sure I did something when reassembling it. Is this a serious problem as long as I know that its this way and no one else will be using it? And how can I fix it? Thank you!

Answer
Eliza, turtle does in fact mean slowwwww, rabbit is fast. You said something about reassembly, what did you reassemble exactly? I am surprised with gas stored in it for 5 or 6 years the carburetor wasn't gummed up and in need of a clean out and rebuild. Did you remove the throttle linkage?..........Tom
