Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Generator question, hp briggs, atv ramps

Question
Several months back I asked you where I could find parts for a Harbor Freight 350 watt generator but I found that that was too light for my needs. I would like to run a 1-2 inch drill and a circular sawer. I like the Harbor freight one because it weighs about 12 pounds and is very easy to manouver. My question is do you know of a light weight generator that would be more wattage and is fairly light to carry around?
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Tim:

I remember you. I had to do Some Research Trying to Locate Parts for your Unit. How is it Going? Good I Hope. I have Found that Honda has a Fairly Light Portable Generator. I Use a Generac 5000 for the Job Sites that Require a Generator for All Day Use. I have Mounted it on Wheels and Use my ATV Ramps to Load it when I Require the Use of it at Job Sites. For the Simple Jobs, I Made a Light Weight Generator Using a 5 HP Briggs Horizontal Shaft Engine that has the Tank Mounted to the Engine and a Harbor Freight Brushless 10,000 Watt (45416-5VGA), Stand alone Generator Unit ($319.99). I Looked at the Other Portable Generator and None had the Wattage I Required. I McGuivered Brackets to Mount the Generator to Top of the Engine (6 inches Between the Spark Plug and the Generator Housing) and to Adjust the Belt Tension. The Carry Handle is Attached to the Generator Unit. Im Not Sure of the Weight, but 1 Person can Carry it Fairly Easy. It's was Great Hearing from you Again. Till Next Time. May All Your Mechanical Problems be SMALL ONES and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks Again.

Best Wishes and Good Luck
