Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weed Eater, Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower Boggs Down, briggs stratton, weed eater

Question
I've a fairly new Weed Eater brand , Briggs & Stratton 500 series, 158cc lawnmower.  It will bogg down after running about 50 feet.  Chokes out?  You can prim, and it will restart and your back to cutting another 50 feet....Any thought on problem?

Thanks,
Keith

Answer
Hello Keith:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine or the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. By "Bogg Down"; can you Describe in More Detail How the Engine is Operating? Example: Shuts Off as if Ign Switch is Turned Off, Shuts Off as though the Engine is Not Getting Enough Gas. This can be an Ign Coil Problem or a Gas Problem. Check the Gas Flow to the Carburetor. If this Engine has the Vacuum Operated Fuel Pump, then Replace ALL the Spring Type Hose Clamps with the Screw Type Clamps. From your Description it Sounds like the Gas Flow to the Carburetor Inlet Port is Not Correct. The Float May be Sticking and Restricting the Gas Flow to the Carburetor Bowl. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
