Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): drive belt change, craftsman model, drive pulley

Question
I have a Craftsman model # 502.270210, it's a 30" rear engine rider. What is the easiest way to change the drive belt? Should I unbolt the entire drive axle leaving the pulleys'? or remove the pulleys'/assembly? Thanks

Answer
Hello Bob:

Usually, Removing the Deck Drive Belt, Unbolting the Engine Drive Pulley and Lowering it will Allow you to Replace the Drive Belt. Lock the Clutch/Brake in the Park Position and the Belt will have Enough Play to Remove it from the Transaxle Pulley. To View a Breakdown of this Unit Go to this Site Addy, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. From this Page you can View Diagrams and Parts Lists for you Equipment Using the "View Sub Components" Section. Select the Motion Drive File.
