Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No spark, Homelite ST-385, drive socket, hello john

Question
Hello John.  My Homelite ST385C will not spark but I can't get to the igniter module to check it or replace it.  There's (female) hexhead inside what appears to be the clutch housing and I can't get the Allen wrench to grip it.  Do you have any suggestions for getting to the igniter module, short of taking it to the local repair shop?    Best regards, Ed Kersey

Answer
Hello Edward:

The Bolt you are Asking About should be a Female #15 Torx Bolt. You can Purchase a Torx Set for a 1/4" Drive Socket Set for Less than $20.00 Usually and Use the 1/4" Drive Ratchet and Extention to Remove this Bolt. Then you can Remove the Flywheel. Have you Removed the Shut Off Wire from the Shut Off Switch and Checked for Fire? Sometimes the Switch will be Bad and Require Replacing. You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.homelite.com/service_support and Select Order Parts. Now Select "Click to Launch Homelite Catalog". Now Enter the Model Numbers (UT-10646) and Click Search. Now Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can View the Breakdowns for this Unit. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
