Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower starting problem, briggs straton engine, hp model

I have Bolens 4.5 hp Model 12A-264E765 64200 Briggs @ straton engine fairly new i have used maybe 3-4 times since new. Once i pump stroke 3,4 times it does start but it dies in 5 second, i guess after the fuel i pumped uses up. It does not start until i pump few more times and the same scenario.I guess it a fuel problem that i do not get fuel to the carburetor. Some advise or problem solver would be really appreciated. I think it is something with the springs under the filter. Thank you, Gary.

You need your carburetor rebuilt. Your right it is using the gas from the primer, it comes from a different fuel circuit in the carb. After that is used it can't pull it's own fuel from the main jets. If the fuel filter is good, then it's time for a carb rebuild...If it was something to do with the governor spring it would at least start, but then have a run-away idle......Tom
