Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring repower JD gt275, oil light, good fire

Question
QUESTION: Repowered gt275 with Kawasaki  FH500 v as11(jd regular engine don,t know what it came off) The replacement engine is a twin the original was single cylinder. The wiring is giving a little problems. The original wiring off the stator is a three prong connector , top 2 hot bottom ground.I think  i got those connected correctly. The battery lights comes on, the oil light works , motor turns  with good fire and getting gas.Just will not fire off (engine runs)

The wiring on the voltage regulator on the Fh500 va 32348 from left is yellow-green-white-white-red.

I am using the original pto with a sleeve kit, any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

ANSWER: Hello Willie:

Did you Run a Hot Wire to the Carburetor Solenoid? There needs to be a Hot Wire from the Ign Switch that is Hot when the Ign Switch is in the Spring Loaded Start and in the Run Positions and No Voltage when the Ign Switch is in the Off Position. If the Solenoid is Not Opening, then the Engine will Not get Gas to Run. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.buykawpower.com/kmcb2c/main.jsp and Select View Parts Catalog. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: John

thanks for your reply ,but the Kawasaki site has the engine listed as a restricted oem. twin Kawasaki FH500V-AS11 (Fh500VA

32348 mfg 0499).The jd site will not pick up the engine number.

Got a Hot Wire to the Carburetor Solenoid?  Yes.

Maybe I can pick your expertise a little more.
The old 3 wire T connect on the 275.
1. the wires on the T (looking at connector) right side is brown with white strip;left side is brown with yellow stripe;
bottom wire is white.Top two wires came from the stator and bottom from the electric coil.

2.The wires to the twin Kawasaki FH500V-AS11 voltage regulator
a.two white wires are from the stator that connect to the 3 and 4 position.
the 3 and 4 position have a connection bar with the red wire off 5th position (this should be one engine connection

lead ?)

b.the left wire from the stator is on a single connection.position 3
  c. position 1 yellow wire to 6 point  connection ,position 2 green wire to 6 point connector.

The number 2 position green wire is jointed with the carb solenoid wire going into the 6 point connection.(engine

connection ?)
I am thinking the red  wire and the green wire off the voltage regulator should goto to top 3 point T connect from the

275. But to which side ?and the pulser wire into the botton of the T where the electric coil wire was from the single

cylinder.

I do not know what the engine came off , so I cannot get wiring diagram.

any help, leads or suggestion would greatly be appreciate

thanks

willie

ANSWER: Hello Again Willie:

The Color Codes on these Engines and Mowers mean Very Little. The T Connector from the Old Engine is As Follows: The Bottom Single wire is the Coil Shut Off Wire. It Goes to the Ign Coil and Ground it to Stop the Plug from Firing. The Upper 2 Wires are AC and DC Voltage Wires. Both my Sites for Viewing Kawasaki Engines are Down for Maintenance and Upgrades and will Not be Back Up Until Monday the 7th. I Really need to See the Regulator that is on this Engine. The Old Engine Required No Regulator. You are Correct about the Regulator Wires Going to the Top 2 Wires and the Pulser Wire to the Bottom White Wire. Without Access to the Breakdowns and Not knowing which Regulator is Used on this Engine, I am Helpless to Assist you Further. Usually the Brown with White Stripe Wire is the AC Lead and the Brown with Yellow Stripe is DC Voltage. The Engine that was on this Mower was Supposed to be a Kawasaki FV540V-DS00 Model. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring repower JD gt275, oil light, good fire
regulator
QUESTION: John

One last follow up on this problem. The voltage regulator (http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=60263) i was able to place an image there.A local JD tech said that was the large regulator.Looking at the the regulator from left.
1. ac
2. dc
3. & 4 from stator ac
5. ac  which is for charging the battery.( from local jd tech) (4 & 5 is bridged)

From the above if brown and white is ac on the 275 3 prong  T connector would both ac (outside connection on the twin) go to the ac engine connection or only the right outside which is the battery charging.

I ran the dc down by the combined connection to the carb solenoid. and the pulser wires by removing the housing.

From two different JD dealer tech, the model number has to be known , they could not not just look up the engine models. This engine came off a box store Deere(supposedly a saber) and deere just list Kohler on these.

One thing about this experience Deere does not fit any after market items and you can run run into a lot of fun by using other deere parts.( remaking a lx177 muffler to fit) Many thanks for your response and kindness in answering

May God's riches and abundance be bountiful in your life.

thanks
willie.
