Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD345, methodical approach, couple minutes

Question
I have a JD345 that will quit running after a couple minutes and will restart within an hour. Fuel solenoid checks out okay and fuel pump registers within limits. Any ideas?

Answer
During the time it will not start you have to narrow down the conditions. 1. Does it have spark at this time? 2. Have you pulled the spark plug and check to see if it is wet or dry to determine if it is getting fuel? 3. Have you tried some starting fluid in the carb to see if it will then fire? Many conditions will cause this it requires a methodical approach to finding the hidden problem. One must begin at a certain point and check the basics first..........Tom
