Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): McCulloch gas trimmer model # MT3315, zama carb, mcculloch gas trimmer

Question
Hi,John thanks for directing me to the parts break down,I called MTD Canada today and they e-mailed me a breakdown with the engine diagram as well. The bad news is that the breakdown only shows the carb as all one piece however it does give a part number (9228-331502). I've had no luck looking up that # for pricing or to see if a kit is available for repair of the old one. On a positve note after looking at the zama carb website I noticed they make a carb with a rotary type throttle linkage, so then I checked walbro to see if they make one simalar and of course they do. I believe it was a WYJ-220,(SO MUCH FOR ME BEING FAMILIAR WITH WALBRO OR ZAMA!!) unfortunately the carb on my unit has no markings, so I'm unsure which carb model to pick or which manufacturer to choose. If you could do anything with the part# that would be great. I hate to take it apart just in case their is no kit availabe and I'm not really caught on the idea of buying a new carb unless the price is right, but as a last resort I guess I might have to. Hopefully you can come to my rescue again.

P.S. I hope to get my camera up and running, so maybe in a week or so I'll be able to send a photo to help.

Answer
Hello Again Jeff:

Without the 6 Digit Model Numbers it is Nearly Impossible to Locate the Proper Carburetor Numbers. The 9228-331502 is the Part Numbers for a Complete Engine Not the Carburetor Part Numbers. I am trying to Locate the Proper Carburetor Numbers Using the Engine Part Numbers. I am Waiting for a Call from OEM about this Unit for More Information also. I will Follow Up to you as Soon as I Hear from OEM. Thanks.
