Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): older snapper needs help, clutch cable, question pool

Question
My 1989 snapper ride on only goes forward in gear 1 or 2, and then only until
it gets hot. It runs fast in reverse all the time. I have replaced the rubber
bordered disk , and made sure that there is free plan in the clutch /brake
pedal. Once it is engaged in a forward speed you can move the lever from 1
to 2 without the clutch. What else can be adjusted?
thank you

Answer
Hello Thomas:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Did you Replace the Drive Disc? How Bad is the Drive Disc Worn? Is there Free Play in the Clutch Cable? Usually for this Problem, the Drive Disc and the Driven Disc are the Cause. With the Model Numbers I can Assist you Better. Thanks.
