Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cub cadet wont start, cub cadet lawn, spec numbers

Question
I have a cub cadet lawn tractor its a year old. My neighbor used it and then power washed it, after that it would not start. The lights would come on but it would not turn over. I touched the starter after tring to turn it over again and again and it was really hot. I took the cover to the engine off and I could tell that the starter was trying but it could not spin it. You know whats wrong?

Answer
Hello James:

Remove the Spark Plug, Spin the Engine and See if Anything comes Out of the Spark Plug Hole. Does the Cylinder have Gas, Oil or Water in it. It is Possible that the Washing of the Mower is Not the Cause for the Problem you are having. Usually, Washing the Mower will Loosen or Cause 1 of the Safety Switches to become Disconnected and the Mower will Not Start. However, from your Description it Sounds like the Valve Clearance Requires Resetting and this is a Common Problem with OHV (Over Head Valve) Engines. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine or the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. Thanks.
