Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): string trimmer prime not working, metering valve, string trimmer

Question
Hello, I am having trouble sucking fuel into the carb when using the prime bulb.  I have double checked the fuel lines and they are clear.  I saw your response about varnish and I may have a similar problem since the trimmer is pretty new but I did not use it at all last year.  My question: should I remove the bulb and clean the carb or just buy a new carb unit and is this the best way to go here?  Thanks a lot!!!  I really appreciate your help.  Pat

Answer
Hello Pat:

Usually with a Breakdown and a Gallon of Carburetor Cleaner; a Novice can Clean the Carburetor. From your Description it Sounds like the; 1- the Check Valve in the Carburetor has Stuck (if this Model Carburetor has a Check Valve) or 2- the Pulse Metering Valve has Stuck. I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.
