Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): riding lawn mower repair, lawn mower repair, input shaft

Question
QUESTION: John, I have a 1995 Murray lawn mower, model 38633X92A, and I recently had trouble starting it but located a broken ground wire and repaired that. Now the motor starts perfectly and the blade engages, but the clutch does not seem to work and the gears will not engage.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for your time.

ANSWER: Hello Karen:

Have you Checked the Ground Drive Belt? Has it Dropped Off 1 of the Idlers or Pulleys and is Not Turning the Transaxle Input Shaft? Is the Transaxle Input Shaft Turning? You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.ordertree.com/ and Select Murray from the Drop Down List Provided and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Go. Then Select Download PDF. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: John the Transaxle shaft is not turning, the belt is around the pulleys corretly but the belt is not moving.
Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello Again Karen:

Follow the Belt and Make Sure it is on All the Pulleys and Idler Pulleys. The Belt May be Off at the Engine. You Didnt Say there was a Loud Screeching Noise or Smoke, so the Belt is Most Likely Off at the Engine. Use the Site Addy I Provided to See How the Belt is Routed. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
