Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet, cub cadet lawn, drive shaft

Question
Hello, I have a 2005 model Cub Cadet lawn tractor Model LT1042, With a 19 horse kohler courage engine. DO you know how i would change out the transmission drive belt? How to remove the pullies and the pto unit on the drive shaft without the shaft turning? The owners manual says to use a repair shop because it takes special tools to do this. Thanks for any help.  Steve Artz

Answer
Hello Steve:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobisalespartslookup.com/home.asp and Select the Cub Cadet Logo. Now Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Now Select the OEM (Cub Cadet) and Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers (LT1042) and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select Sectional View. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Select the "Drive System 1/136H and Before". This Breakdown Shows the Belt Routing and Associated Components. I ma Not Aware of Special Tools to Remove the Belt Guards in Order to Replace the Belt. Remember you will have to Remove the Mower Deck to Replace the Motion Drive Belt. On Some Models the Engine Pulley has to be Lowered to Replace this Belt. The Idler Pulleys may have to be Removed if the Belt Guard is Attached to the Idle Pulleys Mounting Bolts. Every Model Mower is Different and as Yet I have Not made a General Instruction File for Replacing the Motion Drive Belt. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
