Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda EX1000 Generator low power output, honda ex1000, generator components

Question
Good afternoon, I recently picked up a Honda EX1000 generator.  It runs great, starts on the first pull.  The only problem is the power output is low to nothing.   I took it to a local repair shop and the guy said it was the "main wire".  I asked how he knew because he didn't do anything but listen to it, and he didn't have a reason.  He just said that he knew.

I'm wondering if there is anything I can check,  if this is worth fixing, and where to get parts?

Answer
Hello Matthew:

Usually when the Power Output is Low, there is a Winding Problem with the Field (AKA Stator) or Armature (AKA Rotor) of the Generator. Part are Available for the Engine and Generator. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog American Honda. You can Purchase Parts from the Same Site. I Suggest you have the Generator Checked by a Certified Electrician, Not a Small Engine Service Center. Few Small Engine Service Centers are Equipped to Diagnose the Generator Components of a Portable Generator. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
