Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Starter Problem, jumper cable, starter problem

Question
My Husqvarna YTH2348 is equipped with the Model 445577, Type 0755E1 Intek Engine. Running fine. Stopped for a few minutes and when I attempted to re-start, all the starter does is spin. Sounds as though it won't engage the flywheel. Is it the solenoid or something else.
Thanks in advance for the help.
John

Answer
Hello John:

If the Starter is Turning, then Check the Starter Drive Gear. This Plastic Gear will Usually Crack or the Drive Grooves will Strip Out and the Gear will Not Raise and Contact the Flywheel Starter Ring. The Following is an Instruction File I Made for Checking/Testing the Starter and Solenoid. **(with the Spark Plug/s Removed) To Check the Solenoid and Starter, Once you are Sure the Battery is Fully Charged/New, then Use your Jumper Cable Set and Attach the Positive Lead Onto the Positive Post of the Battery (make sure the Battery is Fully Charged or is a New Battery). Now Firmly Touch the Large Post on the Starter. If the Starter Does Not Turn and you can turn the Engine by Hand, then the Starter is Bad. If the Starter Turns the Engine Properly, Then Check the Solenoid. Firmly Touch the Small Post at the Base of the Solenoid that has the Ign Wire Attached to it. If The Starter Does Not Turn and the Solenoid Clicks, Then the Solenoid is Bad.** You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/doclist.aspx?categ... and Enter the Model Numbers (445577) and Type Numbers (0755) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
