Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): ezgo golf cart, snails pace, carburetor

Question
My father has a rebuilt 19 98  Ez-go workhorse. He is disabled but rides it at a snails pace for hrs every day. It looses its power and will only run at about half speed for a while and then it will all of a sudden take off and run perfect for a while, I've replace gas line, filter and drained the carb. bowl because one mech. said it sounded like water in the carb. when it acts up it just doesn't have any power and want pull up a small hill at all,But then it's just start running fine and have plenty of power. My father thinks it's the governors but i'm not convinced. When I first purchased it for him 3 years ago it did the same thing and the seller sent me a new carb. which i installed and it had been running fine up until now. Any suggestions on what else I can do to it? Thanks

Answer
Hello Ronnie:

My Father Also has an EZ-Go Cart and the Most Common Problem we have with it is the Carburetor. It will Start Performing as you Described with the Power Loss and Gain. Usually a Good Carburetor Soaking and Cleaning and the Unit is Operating like New. From your Description it Sounds like the Carburetor Requires Cleaning. I Suggest you Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner and then Replace Any Parts that are Required. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
