Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere lawn tractor 68, john deere lawn tractor, john deere lawn

Question
model 68 lawn tractor will not stay in gear and will not go into gear at other time

Answer
Hello Gary:

From your Description it Sounds like the Locking Collars are Worn and Require Replacing. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (68) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Select the "Transmission" File. The Locking Collars are # 5 in the "Transmission Gears, Shaft and Driven Sheave" Sub File. The Locking Collars being Worn will Cause the Transmission to Jump Out of Gear. The Indent Ball and Spring shown in the "Transmission Housing, Shift Lever and Brake" Sub File will Cause the Not/Hard to Get Into Gear if the Indent Ball is Worn. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
