Answer
Hello Brian:

Use Needle Nosed Pliers and Pull the Plunger Out of the Engine. The End of the Plunger May be Flaired/Damaged. If this is the Case, then Replace the Plunger and be Sure the Plunger is Fully Extended when Setting the Point Gap. If the Plunger is Flaired/Damaged, then Remove the Upper Crankshaft Seal and Make Sure the Oil Port for the Top of the Crankshaft is Clear. Usually if the Oil is Not going to the Plunger, then it Heats Up and Flairs and Sticks from Lak of Lubrication. If the Plunger has Not Flaired and is Just Tight in the Plunger Hole, then Use Emeroy Cloth Sand Paper and Lightly Sand the Plunger Until it Moves Freely in the Plunger Hole. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/doclist.aspx?categ... and Enter the Model Numbers (82502) and Type Numbers (0133) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF. You can Replace the Point Set with an Electronic Ign Module Sold ny Rotary Corp. The Module Number is Rotary #8786 Nova ll. Most Small Engine Service Centers can Order this Unit for you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
