Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chinese ATV engine, adjustment screw, gas tank

Question
i'm sorry I can't supply any serial numbers, but I don't think that that would
help  anyway because I only have a general question.  I have a chinese ATV
which I have had for several months now.  I ride it infrequently, and I stored it
for a time, and then once I tried to start it again, It started, but idled
extremely high.  the RPMs can be adjusted down, but they only start going
down once the adjustment screw is about to fall out.  I have read forums
about gasoline-soluble gel pacs that are placed in the carburetor to keep the
float from being damaged in shipping.  could this be my problem?  or other
debris from the gas tank?  thanks.

This Chinese engine on this ATV is more than likely a 2 cycle engine. As far as a gel pack I would not rule that out. Take this carb apart and clean it out really good make sure you make notes or take pictures of where all the parts go or else you will be pulling you hair out when you have a few pieces left over. The adjustment screw should be turned out 3  12 turns from where it starts to seat do not tighten this screw down just tighten it till it stops and then do the 3 1/2 turns out, this will get it started and once it starts you can then fine tune the mixture,

Good Luck
