Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl FS 45 Lawn Trimmer, input shaft, drive shaft

Question
I was taking the trimmer apart and now got it all back together and when I start it the part that spins through the shaft to turn the head of the trimmer seams to not be hooked up to the end of the unit to make the end spin. I can hear it spinning in the shaft but the part that has the trimmer line does not spin. Is there a way to fix this. Hope that you can figure out what im saying! lol

Answer
Hello Marcus:

As I Understand you Description, the Trimmer Head is Not Turning the Line, but the Drive Shaft is Spinning in the Tube to the Trimmer Head. Make Sure the Trimmer Head is All the Way on the Tube and the Drive Shaft is Sliding Into the Trimmer Head. If the Drive Shaft is in the Trimmer Head Properly, then the Gearbox on the Trimmer May be Bad. While the Trimmer Head is Disconnected from the Tube, Turn the Input Shaft of the Gearbox and the Trimmer Line should Turn. If it Turns, then Hold the Trimmer Line and Try to Turn the Input Shaft to the Gearbox. If the Trimmer Line Tries to Turn and the Input Shaft Does Not Jump, then the Gearbox should be Good and the Drive Shaft was Not Connected to the Gearbox and Causing the Trimmer Line Not to Turn. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
