Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD Hydro 185 Transmission, disc brake rotor, rotor shaft

Question
My John Deere Hydro 185 mower Transmission has quit.  Won't pull the tractor.  The little disc brake rotor shaft is loose in the housing.  A steel ring, maybe part of the part of the bearing, is outside the housing and won't stay in.  It appears the bearing gave out, the oil leaked out and now it won't drive the machine.
Question:
Is this repairable or should I get a new transmission?  Machine is in very good condition otherwise.
Also, I removed the 1/2 inch plug in the bottom of the housing and no oil came out.

Answer
Hello Authur:

On the Transaxle is an OEM Identification Plate. Send me the Information Off of This Plate, Please. With this Information, I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist You. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (185) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Depending on the Transaxle Model and OEM, you May be Able to Purchase Repair Parts for this Transaxle. According to the Breakdown of this Mower, the Brake System is Internal. You Described the External Brake System Components. That is the Reason I Requested the OEM and Model Numbers Off the Transaxle OEM Plate. Usually (9 out of 10 Times) if the Transaxle Lost Fluid and Quit, you can Repair the Leak and Refill the Transaxle and Start back to Using it. Thanks.
