Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): converting vertical, modifing, crankshaft

i got a rider mower with a 14hp b&s and i wanna make a go cart. its a hydrostatic rear end and a vertical crankshaft. im trying to go cheap and stay backyard with it how can i make it work?
