Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Rebuild kit, head gasket leak, intake leak

I have a Briggs model # 28N707, type 0173-01. It smokes alot when it runs and when I engage the PTO. Should I have it rebuilt? If so, what kit do I buy to do it myself?

Does it smoke when the PTO is not engaged? If it smokes all the time you may have a head gasket leak,or a intake leak.Before you rebuild anything test the engine by doing a leak down test and a compression test to see if any leaks are in the engine.If you need more help e-mail me at gb@gbelect.net
