Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman GT18, proper manuals, shift keys

Question
I have a Craftsman GT18 Twin lawn tractor. It will not shift unless the engine is off. I have made the adjustments to the idle pulley but it still did not help. Belt has been replaced.

The brake pulley on the transfer case does not rotate. Is it suppose to when the belt is turning or only when in gear and moving. I can not get is to shift when pressing on the clutch/brake. I would appreciate any feedback on what to do. Is it an issue with the transfer box?

Regards,

Jerry

Answer
Hello Jerry:

The Brake Disc (Pulley) Turns Only when the Axles are Moving. Usually this Problem is Caused by Worn Shift Keys Inside the Transaxle. On the Transaxle is an OEM Identification Plate. Send me the Information Off of This Plate, Please. With this Information, I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist You. Thanks.
