Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weedeater lawn mower, spark plugs, lawn mower

We bought our mower last summer and this year when we tried to start it, it only stays on for a minute before shutting off.  We lost the owner's manual so, we are desparately trying to troubleshoot the problem.  My husband tried adding gas and oil and changed the spark plugs.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

The carburetor need rebuilt or taken apart and cleaned.The gas is not getting to where it is supposed to be,when you use the primer button you are pumping a small amount of gas to just get it started. Then the carb's pumping mechanism takes over from there.
