Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 5 hp briggs+strattion rototiller motor, lint free cloth, hp briggs

Question
Thank you for the info you sent to me about point gap and flywheel to magneto gap.I found the motor code #s They are 130202,0135-07 and 76010706. That is the order they are in from top to bottom. I am getting no spark. I tried 2 differnet magnetos and got 0 spark. I gapped my points .20 and my flywheel the same. Is there a test to check the magneto and condenser for continuity?

Answer
Hello Steve:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/doclist.aspx?categ... and Enter the Model Numbers (130202) and Type Numbers (0135) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF. The Usual Cause for an Engine with a Point Set to Not Fire is a Bad Condenser. The Coil on an Engine with Point Set Ign will Very Rarely Go Bad. I have Seen 1 Coil that was Bad and have Heard of 1 in Just the Past Year. I Suggest you Replace the Point Set and Be Sure to Polish the Contact Areas of the Point Set with a Lint Free Cloth Before Installation. Unless you have a Coil Tester, you Can Not Test the Coil. Was the Point Set Plunger Extended Fully when you Gapped the Point Set? If Not, then that will be the Cause of No Fire. Disconnect the Shut Off Wire from the Point Set and Check for Fire.  If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
