Answer
Hello Matt:

If you can Apply Current to the Positive Side of the Coil and Get Fire, then Inspect the Wires for a Short. You are Not Getting Power to the Coil from the Ign Switch. When the Ign Switch is in the Run and Start (Spring Loaded Position), the Coil should have Current. When the Ign Switch is in the Off Position, there should be No Current to the Coil. This is for the External Coil (like to Old Automotive Coils). If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
