Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl FS45 - Idles OK, Dies when I give it throttle, stihl fs45, exhaust port

Question
Hello.  I own a Stihl FS45 trimmer with 9 seasons of service.  It starts and
idles as good as new, but when I actuate the throttle, the engines struggles
and then dies.  If I let up on the throttle before the engine dies, the engine
returns to idle and and stays on.  Last summer I replaced the fuel line, spark
plug, and air filter, and the fuel is fresh.  The gap on the plug is 0.05mm per
spec.  Adjusting the idle screw clockwise / counterclockwise does not remedy
the situation nor does removing the air filter. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Sean:

Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Exhaust Port for Carbon Blocking the Exhaust Port. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen (in the muffler) for Blockage Also. If Any of these Items are Restricted by Carbon, the Engine Can Not Exhaust Properly and Cause the Problem you Described. Try Running the Unit with the Muffler Off. Have you Changed the Fuel Filter? Im Not Up on the MM Specifications, so I Usually Set the Plug to .030in. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
